"Is it okay if I wash them thoroughly?" ABSOLUTELY NOT.
Due to how sprouts are grown, bacteria can get *inside* the sprout. Washing will NOT remove the Salmonella.

If you experience any of the following symptoms between 6 to 72 hours after consumption, see your GP immediately:
- Fever (over 38°C) and chills
- Severe stomach cramps
- Diarrhoea (sometimes with blood)
- Vomiting and nausea
Particular care is needed for young children, pregnant women, and the elderly (over 65), as they are at higher risk of severe illness.

The safest option is to seal the product in a plastic bag and bin it, but you can also return it to the place of purchase.
